Volunteer Work: Every day the volunteers have several jobs that need to be done on a daily basis. This project is flexible; therefore activities during your stay can be changed or tailored for you. The volunteer will contribute to helping for welfare and caring the animals, such as lots of feeding, bathing, cleaning, treating and playing with them. Also, to help in the sustainable agriculture and learn about the traditional Thai culture. Here, you will have the time to live, love and fun, by helping and to enjoy the beautiful surrounding area.
Commitment: 1 week minimum
Cost: 300 Thai Baht per day which includes accommodation (shared volunteer room), food two times a day (breakfast and lunch), and Wi-Fi access.

 
 
   

Castaway Resort is a busy designer beach resort on a small popular island in Thailand.

Volunteer Work: We offer management internships (reception/assistant manager) on a yearly basis. We accept applications between June and August each year for the following season that begins in October through to May the following year
Commitment: 6-12 months
Cost: Interns receive a starting Base salary of 10,000-20,000 Thai Baht per month, a share of the performance based management bonus (November-April), free shared accommodation, 2 meals a day, scuba diving qualification (at cost), and discounted transportation to and from the mainland. Thai Street Paws Rescue is a charity organization that was started to aid Songkhla’s soi (street) dogs in their plight to find food, shelter, medication, and positive human socialization in hopes finding loving, forever homes. Thai Street Paws Rescue’s goal is to spay and neuter soi dogs to prevent litters of unwanted puppies, treat sick dogs, feed the hungry, and educate the community about animal welfare. Thai Street Paws Rescue is currently run by one woman and a few donors. Tamara, a teacher from Australia, is feeding and caring for over 40 street dogs on a daily basis. She also runs local shelter and fosters dogs in her home. As you can imagine, this is an overwhelming job for one person and volunteers would be extremely helpful in the mission to end Thialnd’s soi dog suffering.

Location: Songkhla City, Thailand. Songkhla City is a charming, laidback, authenic beach village off the beaten tourist track
Volunteer Work: We need vets and/or medical students who can provide spay/neuter services. Also needed are animal lovers who can help feed soi dogs, clean and maintain dog shelter, bathe dogs, walk dogs on leads, and help with socialization (via playing and training). Building skills for dog beds and dog houses are also very useful!
Commitment: 7 days minimum, 1 month maximum. Volunteers are requested to work 9am-5pm, four days a week
Cost: All housing accommodations will be provided (meals not included). Volunteers will be responsible for travel to Thailand. Songkhla is a 12 hour drive from Bangkok. If volunteer flies into Hat Yai, transport can be arranged from airport to housing in Songkhla City, free of charge.

 
 
   

Camillian Social Center Chiang Rai is dedicated to ensuring that all Hill Tribe children, including those poor, orphaned, or with special needs, and their communities are given the opportunity to build a better life. The Home of Charity, at Camillian, Chiang Rai, which has a Home School and Therapy Centre, is always looking for volunteers with the skills, qualifications and enthusiasm to help our children living with disabilities.

Location: Muang district, Chiang Rai province, Thailand
Volunteer Work: We need volunteers (minimum age 20) who can commit for at least 1 month. Especially needed are those with therapy qualifications, but we also welcome those with training in TEFL, dance, yoga, or media studies. We will ask you to work a 5 day week, which may include the weekend. Days are usually from 8am until 3.30pm. Most volunteers enjoy spending time with the children outside of these hours, walking in our beautiful grounds, swimming in our pool when the weather is hot enough etc, but you are also free to use one of our bikes to exploring the wonderful countryside near the Centre. On free days, you can take the bus into Chiang Rai city, approx 25 km away.
Commitment: 1 month minimum
Cost: We do not charge volunteers for food and accommodation but donations to offset costs are greatly appreciated.

 
 
   

Ban Nai Soi Community Learning Centre (BNSCLC) provides a high school level education to the refugees and migrant children from Burma (Myanmar) currently living in the Ban Nai Soi and Mae Hong Son areas plus to the poor children who live in Thailand.

Location: Ban Nai Soi village , Mae Hong Son province, Thailand
Volunteer Work: We are seeking enthusiastic individuals that wish to volunteer their time and effort to make a positive contribution to the students at the BNSCLC. In order to teach at the BNSCLC you will need a positive attitude, an open mind, and the patience required to understand and work within a different culture. While we don’t have any specific requirements regarding your qualifications we are hoping to attract qualified teachers of ESL. Even if you don’t have any experience teaching we still strongly encourage you to apply. In its first year the BNSCLC was lucky enough to have several volunteers that had very limited prior teaching experience but still proved to be great instructors. It would benefit the students much more if we were able to find volunteers that could stay for several months but we ask for at least two months commitment to teaching.
Commitment: 2 months minimum

Move Lanna is a volunteer dispatch programme which works alongside Always Reading Caravan Association (ARC), and organisation created in Phrao, Thailand to promote the love of reading and reach far out schools in rural villages. Move Lanna has built connections with small, local and rural NGO's and organisations who are also looking for volunteer support. We help to place volunteers on different programmes and a small cost, and the small profit we make goes directly back into ARC.

Location: Around Phrao district, and Chiang Mai city
Volunteer Work: We have many opportunities for volunteers such as, English teaching, management roles, and rehabilitation and physio-therapy.
Commitment: 4 weeks minimum
Cost: Costs start at 250 Euro's for 4 weeks and increase depending on number of weeks you will volunteer for (see website for breakdown). This includes food and accommodation, and transport if needed, but does not include flights to and from home country to project location.

 
 
   

Filmmakers Without Borders (FWB) is a non profit arts organization that sends filmmakers and art educators overseas to teach filmmaking, media literacy, and technology to underserved students in Chang Mai, Thailand. Think of it as PeaceCorps for filmmakers.

Location: Chang Mai, Thailand
Volunteer Work: FWB is currently recruiting qualified filmmakers and educators to teach filmmaking & media literacy to underserved youth. Applicants should have experience working with youth, teaching/mentoring, and be experienced in film/media arts. Participants work directly in overseas classrooms and teach local students how to make short films and other multimedia projects.
Commitment: 1 Year
Cost: All of FWB's programs are 100% fully funded. FWB covers the cost of housing, international travel, food, equipment, and evacuation insurance for 1 full year.

 
 
   

Kids Home Foundation is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious, organization that supports about 700 children in need and their families in the slums of Chiang Mai Province (Northern Thailand). Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Kids Home protects endangered children, allows families to becoming self-sustainable and gives opportunities for a better future.

Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand
Volunteer Work: Kids Home Foundation seeks volunteers for various positions that emerge throughout the year such as assisting us with media and educational work. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.

Youth International is an experiential learning program that combines rugged international travel, inter-cultural exchange, home stays with local families, volunteer community service work, and outdoor adventure. Teams of up to 14 people between the ages of 18 and 25 travel together with two group leaders. For a full 3-month semester, they explore three different countries in one region of the world. Programs begin in September and February.

Location: Thai locations: Bangkok and the Southern Islands
Volunteer Work: We are looking for Team Leaders for our Asia program. Responsibilities of the Team Leaders include developing portions of the trip plans, training group members for participation in the program, handling day-to-day logistics while on the road, counselling team members through developing world learning experiences, and maintaining a functional team while leading individual growth through a variety of programs and activities. Team Leaders must have extensive experience in travelling, living, studying, volunteering and working in the countries through which the group travels (Thailand, India and Nepal). Team Leaders must also have strong leadership experience working with groups.
Commitment: 13 weeks
Cost: All expenses paid for, including all flights, travel, and living costs while overseas. Plus a stipend starting at US$2000, based on experience.

 
 
   

Panya Project aims to be an integrated example of sustainable living, using earthen building, permaculture, organic gardening, yoga, meditation, music, dance, and lots of laughter, to bring balance to the lives of those involved, as well as bring about a better world

Location: Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai
Volunteer Work: It is our goal to live, breath and practice Permaculture every day of our life and we are very eager to share as much of our knowledge as possible. Our daily activities include organic gardening that promotes ecological diversity and healthy food production, food forestry where we mimic natural forest systems to create an abundance of food, fibre and fodder. Natural buildings is also a big part of our daily life, come and learn traditional and experimental building techniques with natural materials, while we build new structures and maintain existing ones. Cost: We ask volunteers to contribute 300 Thai Baht per day for food and accommodation. To encourage longer stays at the Panya Project, volunteers pay half price (150 baht a day) after their first month.

 
 
   

Sahai Nan Organic Farm is a local organic Permaculture farm which aims to offer a Permaculture education and demonstration centre for all people from around the world. Here, we do natural building, organic planting, food forest, water and soil conservation, green renewable energy, and much more. We offer building and Permaculture courses from time to time; you can volunteer on some hands-on project and have fun. You will also have chance to play with bamboo, natural swimming pool, and experience local food in our farm.

Location: Thung Chang, Nan, Thailand
Volunteer Work:We appreciate if volunteers can help in planting, watering the garden, harvesting food, cooking, collecting fire wood, construction (furniture or building) or any type of farm work. The tasks are dependent on the need of the farm and season. We do not make any of these jobs compulsory to volunteers because we want them to choose what they prefer to do and enjoy farm life. Volunteers can propose any project to us, and we will carry out the project together if it is suitable.
Commitment: 5 days minimum. When we have 10-30 days of courses in our farm, we might not have enough accommodation for all volunteers.
Cost: 200 Thai Baht per day which includes accommodation and food.

 
 
   

Kwah Dao (formerly known as the Burmese Refugee Project) is a 501(c)3 organization seeking to build participatory models for education and community development in northern Thailand. We hope to empower disenfranchised stateless Shan Burmese communities with the skills, knowledge and education necessary to improve their quality of life, increase their future opportunities and protect their often-abused fundamental human rights.

Location: Pai, Changwat Mae Hong Son, Thailand
Volunteer Work: One of Kwah Dao's core programs is our After-School English and Arts Program. Our volunteer program is a great opportunity for young people seeking teaching experience or experienced educators looking to volunteer abroad. Volunteers typically teach five days a week - three weekdays between 4pm and 6.30pm and both Saturday and Sunday for full days. The weekday sessions are focused on English, whereas the weekends incorporate both English and a range of arts, crafts and other extracurricular activities. While teaching experience is a definite plus, the most important qualities we look for in volunteers are enthusiasm, passion and dedication. If there are additional projects volunteers wish to work on or skills they want to develop (in management, non-profit administration, etc.), we do our best to accommodate and make it possible.
Commitment: 3 months minimum
Cost: There is no cost to participate but volunteers must cover their own living expenses. We provide free housing for our volunteers who are able to commit to 6 months or more.

 
 
   

Thoo Mweh Khee Migrant Learning Centre (TMK) is situated in Tak Province on the Thai-Myanmar border. The school is 30km from Mae Sot, a local border town. This school provides education to over 600 students, nursery to post-high school, who come from Myanmar. There are around 350 students living on site in dormitories. The ethnicity of the students is Karen. In the past Karen were oppressed by the Burmese military, forcing them to flee their homeland and come to Thailand as migrants, refugees or displaced people. This school has a high reputation for teaching through the English and Thai languages, with students coming from various parts of Myanmar to gain access to a high level of education.

Location: Phop Phra, Tak
Volunteer Work: There are a variety of teaching opportunities available, from English in the primary and high school to science, social science, community development, teaching training, and computer science in the upper division. In addition to teaching in the school, there are numerous extracurricular activities that could use additional support including music instrument training (piano, guitar, violin), dance (hip hop and ballet), sports (football, volleyball, and caneball), crafts (weaving and sewing), and agriculture (dormitory garden and livestock raising). We encourage volunteers to establish new programs as our students are eager to learn new skills. We are looking for committed, experienced, and energetic individuals who can share their passion with our students. There is no requirement for teaching English, although some teaching experience or formal training is preferred. A bachelor's degree is required for those wishing to teach in the upper division, although special exceptions may be allowed.
Commitment: 3 month minimum, although shorter terms will be considered for certified teachers
Cost: TMK provides free on-site accommodation and special meals are prepared by students on request. If meals are provided, a donation is appreciated, but not required. The accommodation includes a kitchen and there is an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables available from our school garden and the daily market in town. A volunteer can live comfortably on around 5,000 Thai Baht a month, although it could be more or less depending on personal habits and preferences.

 
 
   

Mabprachan Animal Shelter is a private shelter that is currently home to 350 rescued dogs and 35 cats and the owners of the shelter, Mali and Derek Doyle, care for the animals 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day.

Location: Tha Mai near Chantabhuri, Thailand (about 250kms south of Bangkok towards TRAT)
Volunteer Work: General volunteer assistance. Volunteers help care for the dogs and cats and must be capable of handling hot and humid conditions.
Commitment: 4 weeks minimum
Cost: Volunteers receive basic accommodation and food at the shelter and are asked to contribute 1000 Thia Baht per week.

 
 
   

Santisook Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation operates one dog shelter, home to 340, and one cat shelter, home to 150. A brand new third site is opening by July and this will house approximately 160 sanctuary dogs, 25 special needs dogs, and all puppies going out for adoption. This new facility will also be home to the new Santisook Rescue Clinic. In addition to the shelters, we assist in the care of dogs and cats living at local temples, operate field sterilization projects for feral and free roaming dogs and cats, and frequently rescue sick and injured animals off of the streets.

Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand
Volunteer Work: We are excepting volunteer applications from veterinarians, vet nurses/techs, experienced shelter volunteers, vet students, and those who may not have experience, but are committed to working hard and learning to skills. We ask for a minimum commitment of one week, two being even better, but occasionally have short term 3 or 4 day stays as well. Veterinarians, we may be able to offer one vet at a time free housing and simple meals, please contact us with availability. Experienced nurses and techs, depending on availability, we may be able to offer free housing and simple meals to those who commit to a one month stay. Please contact us for availability.
Commitment: From 1 week to 3 months
Cost: There is no fee to volunteer, onsite home stay is available for 350-400 baht per night.
